Life Long Learning: The Importance of Study Groups

Introducing The Peer Collective Network: facilitated study groups that help advisors and leaders find the right peers for significant growth.

Good Morning!

Having spent my entire professional life in Northwestern Mutual, I know this is a truly special organization because of the people within it. Development-focused leaders, nationwide joint work relationships, study groups that have lasted for generations, and a desire for leading advisors to give back to help others succeed, just as previous leaders had done for them. Earlier this week, as an example, Al and Keith did an awesome live webinar that reinforced, while they may now be working with upper-echelon prospects and clients, they still operate with the same fundamental new-rep sense of urgency and activity level as when they started their career!

Today I would like to spend a few minutes on study groups, and what I know will be a beneficial opportunity for you and your advisors!

A significant issue for many advisors who haven’t established or maintained a nationwide study group from Fastrack, or been invited into one of the long-standing study groups, is the difficulty to find the right group of people who can educate, motivate, and be accountability partners for significant growth. For the last 25 years I’ve gotten the question “can you help me find the right people to start a study group?” multiple times per month from advisors across the country. I would love to take credit for this, but shout-out to Stephanie Shivar, who recently had the excellent idea of building a centralized space where we can help the NM field curate study groups of people who are aligned in their needs and desires for growth, with professional facilitation, to build upon and expand NM’s unique growth culture: The Peer Collective Network.

Please take a minute to look through the details at the website: https://www.peercollectivenetwork.com/ for additional information on the application process, biographies of the facilitators, and other FAQs on this unique solution to a long-standing issue. With the long-term and professional NM experience of our facilitators, The Peer Collective Network will add significant value for advisors, entity advisors, leaders, operations professionals, etc. throughout the NM field force in developing a study group for their professional growth.

Please share this with other leaders in your office, career advisors, ensembles, and anyone else who may find benefit in learning more. Regardless of their role, we’ll find the right group, and the right facilitator, to help them maximize their potential to lead in your office and at NM!

If you have any questions after looking at the website, just hit ‘reply’ and let me know, one of us will get back to you and talk through all the details.

Think Differently,
